Critique and Editing

POETRY::

Do you wonder why your poems keep getting rejected?  Tired of not being told why?  Do you long for the days when editors had time and red ink to spare and could offer insights and helpful suggestions on improving your work?  You need your own editor.

One poem or a collection of poems, whether you need a critique or in-depth consultation and coaching, let's move your poems from unpublished to unforgettable.

Basic Critique::
What held the attention and where did the mind wander away?
Images that work or don't; lines that need to be pruned.
Copy-editing, catching unintentional use errors, awkward punctuation, etc.

Intensive Edit::
Includes a basic critique, line by line analysis, and offers follow-up.
Email or phone consultations about the work to discuss revisions to the poems.
Suggestions for publication/potential markets for the work.

FICTION::

Are you head-hopping?  Do your pronoun references refer to the right people?  Have you got typos or murky writing that you just can't see for yourself? Get a fiction critique of your novel or short story. A critical reader is an important part of the process for publishers and agents.  How will your work stack up against their expectations?

Here's what one author had to say:   "Okay, that critique was AWESOME, and I’ve decided to use just about all of your suggestions/changes/etc. ... there’s no sense in leaving something as mediocre or just good when it can be much better. So, THANK YOU for this critique. Very helpful."

The 650 Words Per Minute Skim::
This quick critique spots murky writing, flat characters, major typos, and glaring errors.  Alerts you to problem areas in your work.

The 325 Words Per Minute Reading::
The most popular critique, the Reading includes everything the Skim offers plus creative suggestions on how to fix problem areas and make dull characters more dimensional.

The Red Ink Special::
Going farther than the Skim and the Reading, the Red Ink Special includes verbs tense and passive voice analysis, suggests alternatives for jargon, flags potential marketability issues (offering alternatives), and makes minor adjustments on practically every page.  This intensive edit smoothes out rough drafts or polishes "final" drafts getting them ready for submission to publishers and agents. (Calculate cost at 175 words per minute.)
